DAYTONA BEACH, SC (WCSC) -

Prosecutors say a 32-year-old South Carolina woman accused of trying to kill her kids beat her pregnant stomach while she was in custody, according to a report by WKMG.

WKMG in Orlando reported a judge in Florida did not rule at a hearing on Monday if Ebony Wilkerson will be moved to a mental health unit. Wilkerson was in court on Monday attempting to reduce her $1.2 million bond.

Wilkerson's lawyer, James Purdy, said that he was requesting to move his client into a mental health facility where she will be under psychiatric care.

A report by WKMG states Wilkerson was involuntarily taken into custody because she seemed to be a threat to herself after beating her stomach with a fist . Wilkerson's defense explained that their client's reaction was because her clothes were taken away and was placed in solitary confinement.

Another hearing is set for March 25 where the judge is expected to make a ruling if Wilkerson will be moved to a mental health unit.

Wilkerson is charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of child abuse after authorities say the 32-year-old woman attempted to kill her three children.

According to Sheriff Ben Johnson with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Wilkerson tried to intentionally kill her three kids, ages 3, 9 and 10 by driving a van into the ocean at Daytona Beach.

Police reports state that Wilkerson told authorities that she was trying to get away from her husband who she claimed had abused her.

A judge has issued a temporary injunction ordering Wilkerson's husband, Lutful Ronjon, to stay away from some family members.
