Elvis family speaks out at vigil for missing daughter

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Monday marks three months since Heather Elvis was last seen alive. The search for the 20-year-old has since turned into a murder investigation, and on Sunday, her family spoke out at a vigil for their daughter, with a clear message urging anyone to come forward with information.

A little less than one hundred friends and family members gathered Sunday night to say a prayer and give strength to the Elvis family, because on Monday at 2 p.m., Sidney and Tammy Moorer will face a judge for the first time since being charged with murdering Heather Elvis. The charges aren't an answer to the questions still haunting the Elvis family.

"Heather is still missing," Terry Elvis said. "We're still searching, trying to find those people with those answers."

On Sunday night, the family had one final plea before Monday's bond hearing - for someone to come forward with any information they may have.

"There's a lot of misinformation out there that's not factual," said Heather's mother Debbi Elvis. "Don't put these together and say my information isn't going to be helpful. Still call those tips in, because we still haven't found Heather, we still don't know what happened."

Terry Elvis said that the recent developments may have changed the dynamics of what's going on, but their family remains the same.

"We still have the one goal. That's to find the truth, to know what has happened to our daughter," he said.

Not knowing is making it hard to keep the fear of what could have happened to his daughter at bay and to not give up on faith, Terry Elvis said.

"The emotions change a dozen times a day," he said. "What you believe, what you want to believe, what you're afraid to believe. Those things are constantly changing places."
