Wilson's top cop choice meets with Midlands law enforcement leaders

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

City Manager Teresa Wilson's top choice for the vacant chief of the Columbia Police Department is in town to meet with other law enforcement officials from around the Midlands.

We've since determined out of the three choices, Air Force Col. Gregory Reese, former Richmond, Virginia Police Chief Bryan Norwood, and current Huntington, West Virginia Police Chief William Holbrook, Holbrook is Wilson's leading candidate.

The candidate met Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins, Lexington County Sheriff James Metts, SLED Chief Mark Keel, and fellow officers from the Columbia Police Department.

Wilson said it was important for her candidate to meet with other law enforcement leaders to build regional support for future collaborations. Wilson said her top pick commands a presence with his officers and with the officers he's met at CPD.

Wilson says a formal announcement will be made next week.
