WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Roy Lollis spends most of his time hanging out with animals. He said they bring him comfort and help him take his mind off the Vietnam War.
"I served with Airborne Paratroopers, special units," Lollis said.
He said he saw a lot during the war as a soldier, especially death and destruction.
"We had to jump behind enemy lines to get the POWs out," Lollis said.
He packed many of those memories away in a box filled with pictures and honors for his service.
"I put them up because every time I see them, I think about Vietnam," Lollis said.
However, Lollis wanted to show his medals and pictures to close family friends, but when he went to get the box, he said they were gone.
"I don't know how they got them, but they got them. They got them when I wasn't here," he said.
He said someone broke into his house in Woodruff and swiped the honors awarded to him for his service and pictures. He said those things can't be replaced.
But, he said the memories, as difficult as they are, are still secured in his heart.
"They meant a lot to me," Lollis said.
Lollis said he hopes Spartanburg County investigators will be able to help him. Anyone with information on his medals' whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
