It's going to rain... for a while

Posted: Updated:

For a period of 24 hours between Thursday afternoon and Friday, it's going to be very wet and cold in the Midlands.

"A 'southern soaker' is probably the best way to describe the next two days as low pressure climbs out of the Gulf and straddles the S.C. coast," said First Alert Meteorologist Ben Tanner.

Rain is expected to start Thursday afternoon will continue through Friday morning.

"1-3" rain totals are possible over the 24 hour period," said Tanner.

Thursday's high temperatures will struggle into the lower 40s with the rain as it becomes windy.

Lows Thursday night into Friday will drop into the middle 30s as the rain continues with a brisk northeasterly wind at 10-25mph.

Friday will be wet and breezy all morning. The showers will diminishing in the afternoon.

"How about some good news?" said Tanner. "After the rain comes to an end Friday afternoon, the weekend looks GREAT! Highs will be in the 70s both Saturday and Sunday."

Stay warm and dry...
