A car was just a few scant feet away from crashing through the front door of the main branch of the Richland County Library on Assembly Street Wednesday morning.
Columbia Police spokesperson Jennifer Timmons said the 2004 Buick LeSabre initially hit a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander before coming to rest in front of the library's entrance around 11:45 a.m.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries. No word if either of them were seriously hurt in the accident.
The Buick driver, however, has been cited with disregarding a red light.
