CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Officers with the city's Animal Care and Control seized 12 dogs from a home in east Charlotte after investigators say they were living in inhumane conditions.

The incident was reported on Feb. 5 when a caller told animal control officers that there were several dogs on the property barking loudly and that there were signs of training canines for animal fighting, according to the search warrant from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The home, on the 7800 block of Carelock Circle, has previously had dogs removed for illegal dog fighting.

Aviation units were brought in to survey the property which revealed several dogs on the property and the owner being in violation of several city ordinances.

Officers also found the dogs living in plastic or metal barrels on the property.

The owner was also in violation of how many dogs you can have on your property without a special permit, according to the warrant.

All totaled, 12 dogs were removed from the property, five of them puppies 3 months old or younger.

The warrant was issued for violation of cruelty, permitting and nuisance animals.
