Report: Cook Out gunshot might have originated from security guard's stolen gun
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
Columbia Police are investigating a report of shots fired at a restaurant in Five Points early Friday morning.
CPD spokesperson Jennifer Timmons says officers were called to Cook Out on Harden Street in response to a report of a fight in progress.
According to a CPD incident report, a private security guard used OC spray to break up a fight behind the restaurant around 2:30 a.m.
The security guard told police he heard a gunshot shortly after the crowd began to disperse. He then noticed that his gun was missing from his holster.
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility the shot came from the missing gun.
