COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

"Get ready for the big thaw!" says Tim Miller with the WIS News 10 First Alert weather team.

But before that happens, temperatures in the Midlands will have to rise above freezing.  Temperatures fell two below 32 degrees overnight, freezing water and snow that began melting Thursday afternoon.

After two days of a winter storm that dropped snow and ice on South Carolina and knocked out power to as many as 320,000 residents,  temperatures will warm up to the mid '50s on Friday. The mild weather should help utility crews who are working to restore power to 228,000 people in the state.

Miller says it will be breezy as well.

Friday morning road conditions remain slick as water from melting snow and ice refroze overnight.
