NWS: Storm dumped 1.25 inches of ice on parts of state

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Just hours after precipitation that brought freezing rain, ice, sleet, and snow to most of South Carolina, the National Weather Service has released preliminary figures on just how much ice was dumped on the Palmetto State. 

According to their data, large parts of Orangeburg, Calhoun, Sumter, Barnwell, Bamberg, Aiken and Allendale counties received anywhere from .75 of an inch to 1.25 inches of ice.

Orangeburg, Aiken, Bamberg, and Barnwell counties were hit especially hard, as many of the state's power outages originate from there.

At last check, Aiken County had just over 40,000 power outages and Orangeburg County had just under 11,000 outages.

In the lower parts of Lexington and Richland counties, ice accumulation varied from .25 to a full inch.
