TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Some Smith County vandals are destroying primary election candidates' campaign signs. All along Old Bullard Road in Tyler, signs have been sliced into pieces.

It has happened more than once and whoever is doing this is not just targeting one candidate. You can tell from photos that just about everyone who had their signs in that area was hit. We spoke to some of the candidates whose signs were damaged. Their disappointment about the whole ordeal is something that they can all agree on.

"The investment includes not just the purchase price of the signs, but talking to the property owners... making sure it's ok to have the signs here. Also, the installation itself. So, those things all together... it's a pretty significant investment for any campaign and for this to happen, it's frustrating and disheartening for sure," explains Skip Ogle, one candidate who had some of his signs destroyed.

Judge Joel Baker, who had some of his own signs destroyed, says he will not be replacing the damaged signs.

If the vandals keep it up, they could get into trouble with the law. Tyler police say deliberately destroying the signs could lead to misdemeanor criminal mischief charges.
