SC State Board of Trustees plans to discuss budget plans

ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) -

The Board of Trustees at SC State University plan to meet Wednesday to discuss a response to the state Budget and Control Board regarding the school's financial problems.

"Discussions on proposed response to the Budget and Control Board" are on the agenda.

Last week WIS reported the University is trying to figure out a way to cut $13 million in spending. University President Thomas Elzey told lawmakers last month SCSU faces a $4.4 million shortfall that will turn into a $13 million deficit in June.

University leaders have to send a final plan to fix the spending to the state Budget and Control Board by Friday.

The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Board Conference Room on campus.  If inclement weather prohibits the board from meeting Wednesday, it will be rescheduled.
