User fees for Columbia parks increase Feb. 15


User event fees will increase up to $100 for Columbia city parks starting this month.

Organizations will see an increase in deposits, per hour rentals and setup and breakdown costs for all city parks starting Feb. 15. The charge varies on whether the event has gated admission, public, held on a city holiday or hosted by a non-profit organization.

City council approved the increases at its June 18, 2013, meeting. Council did include a chance for a fee waiver only if the city manager authorizes it. The waivers are limited to organizations affiliated with the city and whose activity benefits the city's mission.

Permits for park events must be obtained 15 days prior to the activity by visiting the city's Parks and Recreation Department, 1111 Parkside Drive.
