HONEA PATH, SC (WYFF) —Other than some footprints that disappear into the woods, there is no sign of a missing 81-year-old man, according to investigators with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.

Public information officer Lt. Judy Stiles said 81-year-old Billy Joe Garrett has not been heard from since Tuesday. His family became concerned and reported him missing Wednesday night at 6 p.m. They said he suffers from dementia.

Investigators said they followed some footprints in the snow that led from his Highway 25 home in Honea Path into some nearby woods.

They have requested assistance from the State Law Enforcement Division. The agency is responding with K-9's to help with the search.

Garrett is 5 feet 11 inches tall. He weighs 180 pounds, and he has long gray hair and a gray beard. He was last seen in a blue flannel shirt, and a brown jacket.
