Businesses shut down due to severe weather

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Schools, government offices and non-profits aren't the only entities shutting down due to the storm. Many businesses made the decision to close as well. 

WMBF has been receiving info from various businesses who either closed early or made the decision not to open up at all. Some doctor's offices and clinics closed early. The Coastal Grand Mall shut down at five p.m. and if you were looking to donate blood today that didn't happen.  All of the American Red Cross blood donation centers closed in the region.

In the Market Common, it didn't take long to find several 'Closed due weather' signs. Both Bed Bath and Beyond and Williams Sonoma had the signs on their doors.

Many hotels on the other hand are open to accommodate customers and some like the Springmaid Beach Resort are allowing employees to stay the night rather then drive home in bad conditions.

    The Federal Aviation Administration's announcement late Wednesday comes nearly a year after the engine's manufacturer recommended the additional inspections, and a month after European regulators ordered their airlines to do the work.
