FOREST ACRES, SC (WIS) -

Forest Acres Police now say a home invasion on Linbrook Drive last Monday night was "drug activity" after two suspects were arrested Tuesday.

Chief Gene Sealy says 25-year-old Ellison Devon Hudson and 23-year-old Derrid Johnell Leaphart are both being charged with attempted armed robbery, first degree burglary, attempted murder, and six counts of kidnapping.

The incident happened around 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 20 when three men went to the house and knocked on the door. As one of the occupants investigated who was at the door, the men barged into home and started firing.

As the suspects moved to the back of the house, Sealy says one of the six occupants returned fire and killed 23-year-old Deshawn Patterson.

Sealy initially said in a news conference that the shooting was "probably random." However, information gathered during the investigation indicates the incident was related to drugs.

Police are also investigating a potential third suspect in connection with this incident.

The investigation continues.
