Community support still strong in Heather Elvis search

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – More than a month has passed since 20-year-old Heather Elvis went missing, but at a prayer vigil Thursday evening, the community shows they haven't given up hope in the search.

"The biggest issue I think, is the focus on the family," said Dennis Hubbell of Hubbell Entertainment, who helped organize the prayer vigil.

Huge crowds braved the cold to light candles at the Cypress Campground, not far from where the search for Heather first began, praying for her safe return.

"One of our sisters worked with her at the Tilted Kilt," said CCU student Nicole Ianiro, who handed out candles at the vigil with her fellow Phi Sigma Sigma sorority sisters. "She's well known by us, well known in the community."

The Elvis family also released Chinese lanterns into the air during a moment of silence.

Donations for continued search efforts were also collected at the vigil.
