A kidnapping charge against a Charleston man who was arrested and arraigned will be dropped, according to prosecutors.

Rondell Robert Washington was arrested by North Charleston police and charged with the kidnapping of a 4-month old during a home invasion in Holly Hill. Washington was accused of forcing his way into a home on Catamount Road last week, pistol-whipping a 52-year-old woman and kidnapping the baby. Seven people are wanted in the crime.

About an hour later the child was found unharmed at the side of a Berkeley County road.

First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe said the kidnapping charge against Washington will be dropped because he had an alibi. Washington's attorney said his client is accused of committing Criminal Domestic Violence at the time, which was proven through court records.

Investigators say it was not a random act of violence.
