Pinewood Prep reaches settlement with ReVille molestation victims

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Attorneys say a lawsuit filled by two victims who were sexually abused by Louis "Skip" ReVille against Pinewood Preparatory School has been settled out of court.

According to the victim's attorneys, a confidential settlement agreement has been reached in the civil lawsuit.

As part of the lawsuit, Pinewood Prep has agreed to adopt a new Child Protection Policy that will remain in effect for a minimum of 10 year. The school has also pledged its support for From Darkness to Light, the Dee Norton Lowcountry CHildren's Center and the MUSC National Crime Victims Center.

"With the conclusion of these cases, our clients will finally be able to move one more step in the right direction, continuing this most difficult healing process," stated David Hoyle, one of the Motley Rice attorneys representing the victims.

ReVille, who taught at the Summerville school between 2002 and 2006, is serving a 50-year prison sentence for molesting more than 20 boys around the Lowcountry. He confessed to molesting both victims when they were middle school students at the school.

First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe cleared the school of criminal charges in April 2013 after a State Law Enforcement Division investigation found no evidence that school officials intentionally failed to report inappropriate activity by ReVille.

The Citadel is still facing several civil lawsuits filed on behalf of children who claim they were molested by ReVille when he worked as a camp counselor at the military college.
