UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Union man was reported missing by a friend after he disappeared the day he received a $10,000 inheritance and met up with a woman to "hook up," according to police.

Union police said the roommate of William Clayton Thomas, 50, filed a missing persons report on Thursday, saying she had not seen or heard from him since Jan. 3, the day after he received his inheritance. Police said Thomas lives with the woman who filed the report and her husband.

According to the report, Thomas borrowed her car on Jan. 1 and was using it to hook up with a woman he knew from Greenville. The report said Thomas' roommate then spoke to him on Jan. 2, and he said he was using the woman he was with's bank account to get his inheritance sent to because he did not have his own account.

Police said Thomas told his roommate that he had bailed the woman's friend out of jail, costing him $3,000.

His roommate said she last talked to Thomas on Jan. 3 when he did not show up at work with her husband and he said he was starting to run out of his money, so he was headed back to Union but he never showed up, according to police. The report said she became worried, so she called his phone but it did not have service.

The roommate called the woman Thomas said he had been with, but she told her that she had not seen him in two weeks, according to the report.

When the roommate spoke with Thomas' family, they said they had not seen him since the beginning of the year, police said. Thomas' roommate released a photo of Thomas, saying she was concerned for his whereabouts.

FOX Carolina spoke with an Union police investigator, who said they do not suspect foul play but are asking anyone who may have seen Thomas to let them know to make sure he is alright.

Police said he may be traveling in his roommate's black Dodge Ram truck, which has not been seen since Jan. 3 either.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Union Public Safety Department or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
