(RNN) – Dave Madden, best known for his role as Reuben Kincaid on the TV sitcom The Partridge Family from 1970-1974, has died. He was 82.
Madden died at a hospice center near his Jacksonville, FL, home, the actor's niece told the Associated Press.
Former castmate Danny Bonaduce tweeted "Dave Madden was a great guy & like family to me ... I'll truly miss him."
Madden was born in 1931 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and began his career as a standup comic.
In addition to The Partridge Family, he was a regular on the sketch comedy Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In from 1968-1969 and had a recurring role on Alice as Earl Hicks.
Madden made appearances in a number of 1970s TV shows including Starsky and Hutch, Happy Days, Love, American Style, Barney Miller and The Love Boat.
He released a book, Reuben on Wry: The Memoirs of Dave Madden, in 2007.
