HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse implored residents on Thursday to come forward with information about a shooting near the intersection of Elm and Appleton Streets Wednesday afternoon.

Police say nine shots were fired, two bullets struck a school bus carrying 10 children. Nobody was hurt.

Morse said the mayor's office and the residents of the city will not stand for this type of violence. Police said they can't find anyone from the neighborhood to talk about what they may have seen or heard.

Morse said he spoke with Police Chief James Neiswanger about the incident and pledged resources for the department to catch the person who pulled the trigger. Police said they believe there was only one shooter.

The mayor asked residents to imagine it was their child, grandchild or relative riding on that bus and call with information.

Police said witnesses can make anonymous tips by texting the word "SOLVE" to 274637 or by calling 533-TIPS (8477). Residents may also go to the police station.

Investigators said they had no suspects and no further information on the shooting Thursday afternoon.
