HOLLY HILL, SC (WIS) -

A 911 call placed just moments after the kidnapping of a 4-month-old girl from a home in Holly Hill reveals the frantic moments of a family trying to piece together what just happened after a group of seven armed men entered the home on Catamount Road.

The 911 caller, who did not reveal her name to the operator, hectically tries to explain the situation.

"They left the residence," said the woman. "They came in the house, they told all of us to lay down on the floor. They had guns and they took the baby!"

The 911 operator then takes several moments to try and calm the woman down, but she is still audibly shaken by the incident.

"They took the baby, ma'am! They took the baby," shouted the caller.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said the seven suspects pushed their way inside the residence shortly before 4 p.m. and forced three adults and six juveniles to the floor.

From there, one of the men grabbed the infant and the group fled the scene in a green Ford Explorer and a red Chevy Impala.

Sheriff's investigators were minutes away from sending out an AMBER Alert for the child when word came she was safely found just over the county line in Berkeley County.

In a Wednesday afternoon statement, Ravenell stopped short of saying the motive behind the kidnapping, but said it was not a random act of violence.

"We will locate the cowards who entered the residence and snatched an innocent child from their family and later discarded the helpless child on the side of a road," said Ravenell. "We are continuing to interview witnesses, collect evidence, and will be working with all available resources to bring these individuals back to Orangeburg County to stand for the charges they have committed against this family."
