Virginia Cox Will Provide Strategic Communications Support for 3D Communications' Clients
WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 3D Communications, a leading provider of strategic communications services to corporations and organizations preparing for major scientific, regulatory, business, and media events in the United States and Europe, today announced its former associate Virginia Cox, JD, is returning to the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
Virginia Cox re-joins 3D after more than two years of service as Associate Commissioner for the Office of External Affairs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As the FDA's highest-ranking communications officer, Cox provided leadership, coordination, and oversight to a wide range of agency activities.

At 3D, Virginia Cox will provide high-level strategic and tactical advice for 3D's clients. She also will help to develop new services for 3D.
While at the FDA, Cox was responsible for advising the Commissioner and other high-ranking officials on all communications related to FDA policies and activities; managing all media relations and digital media; and serving as a liaison between the FDA and health professional, patient organizations, and industry, and between the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services and the White House.

Virginia Cox has led numerous nationwide, strategic communications initiatives and developed award-winning public health campaigns. During the 1990s, Cox served as special assistant to the HHS Secretary and as the FDA Commissioner's director of outreach and strategic initiatives. Later, she was senior vice president for communications and strategic initiatives at the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, and was a senior partner in a San Francisco-based management consulting firm.
Cox has also held senior positions in major state-wide and national presidential campaigns, and wrote the chapter titled "Food and Drug Administration: Protecting Public Health Through Science" in Change for America, a book prepared for President Obama's transition to the White House. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Cox also received her law degree from the Georgetown University School of Law. She is a member of the Maryland Bar.
