(WMC-TV) - One community's concern for personal safety continues to rise after multiple attacks from a pack of feral dogs, which has roamed the streets since last summer.

The Cooper-Young Community Association (CYCA) sent a warning to residents in July when dogs acted aggressively with at least one resident who was walking her dog. Shortly after that incident, the association's director said several cats were found mauled.

"I know stories, often friends who live in Midtown getting cornered in alleys by six or seven dogs at night and their dogs being threatened in the process," said resident Jessica Haverkamp in September. "That's not a situation you want to be in because, you can't really protect yourself when there's that many."

Memphis Animal Services captured two of the dogs, but residents say the pack still prowls around Midtown.

Residents expressed further safety concerns such as hesitantly letting their children play in the front yard or walking with extreme caution in the neighborhood.

Veterinarian Dr. Thomas Slattery does not recommend people approach the pack of dogs.

"I think people should be afraid of them. I don't know they'll stay away from people," said Slattery.

Memphis Animal Services will continue to patrol for the animals.
