COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Two men were killed in traffic collisions over the weekend, the South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.
The first collision happened Saturday night on Interstate 77, when the driver of a 1994 Ford van was traveling north when he lost control, ran into a median and overturned, Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.
Jones said the driver was ejected from the van and died as a result of his injuries.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the victim as 34-year-old Andres Alvarado-Felix of Hopkins.
There was also a passenger in the vehicle that was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
In Lexington County, a two-vehicle collision was reported early Sunday near Pond Branch Road.
A 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was going east on Pond Branch Road when the driver lost control, overcorrected and crashed into a 1994 Toyota, Judd said.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck died and the driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital and is expected to be ok, Judd said.
Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman identified the victim as 30-year-old James Wade Clamp of Leesville.
