Missing Mass. girl found with mother in Cleveland County

Posted: Updated:

Deputies in Cleveland County say a missing five-year-old girl from Massachusetts was found in North Carolina after she was reportedly kidnapped by her mother.

According to the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home along Yarn Mill Road in Cleveland County as the possible location of the missing girl.

When deputies arrived, the homeowner allowed them into the home.

That is when deputies found the missing girl and her mother, 50-year-old Leeanna Rose Wilson, according to the report.

Authorities in Massachusetts feared Wilson would harm the child, but deputies in Cleveland County say both were found unharmed.

The little girl was taken into protective custody by the Sheriff's Office until authorities from Massachusetts DSS could make arrangements for her return back to the state.

Wilson is being held in the Cleveland County Detention Center without bond on an out of state fugitive warrant.

The case is now being handled by the Worcester County District Attorney's Office in Massachusetts.
