Roads back open after flash flooding

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A flash flood warning was issued for parts of the Midlands as a soaker of a system worked its way through the area. The warning has since expired.

The National Weather Service is urging folks to be cautious in the Five Points area since flood waters are usually an issue there.

"Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of the Five Points area extending downstream along rocky branch creek. This includes Maxcy Gregg Park, the Pickens-Blossom Street intersection and the Whaley-Main Street intersection," said the alert.

WIS News 10 chief meteorologist John Farley says to expect heavy rain in the Columbia area for the next half hour or so, then it should taper off to much lighter, scattered showers.
