COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The Sears store and Auto Center at Columbiana Centre will close in early March because the lease was not renewed, according to a release from the company.
In a release sent out late Thursday afternoon, the company says the store will begin its liquidation process at the Harbison Boulevard store on Jan. 17.
The company also blamed their bottom line as the reason behind the closure.
"Store closures are part of a series of actions we're taking to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model," said the statement.
The Harbison store employs 97 people and company officials say those employees are eligible for severance packages and job opportunities at other Sears or KMart stores.
