COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - The man whose daughter and granddaughter were brutally murdered at Brook Pines Apartments back in 2011 is once again pleading for help in the murder investigation.

In a letter written specifically to the killer, Carl Alston says he cannot fathom why anyone would kill 25-year-old Candra Alston and 3-year-old Malaysia Boykin.

"It's hard for me to come to grips with what happened and I still have trouble really believing my daughter and granddaughter are gone," said Alston.

To this day, Columbia Police investigators have been unable to identify any suspects in connection with this case.

Police believe the person who killed Candra and Malaysia knew them because there were no signs of forced entry at their apartment.

"It was one of the most gruesome crime scenes I've witnessed," said Columbia Police Sgt. Kevin Reese in a 2012 interview.

Reese said they've interviewed more than 150 people but have yet to find that one piece of information to turn the corner.

Alston addresses the killer at the end of the note, asking him to do the right thing and give himself up so he can finally have closure. He also asks the citizens of Columbia to help in the investigation.

"I am pleading with you, Columbia, to help me find the murderer because if they done it once, they may do it again," said Alston. "I would like to close this chapter of my life and move on."

If you have any information about this case, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
