LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A woman accused of shoplifting sweet potatoes from the Lexington Walmart told deputies she needed to feed her potbellied pig.

According to the incident report, Lexington County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Walmart on South Lake Drive in Lexington on New Year's Day for a shoplifting report. The store's security officer told deputies he witnessed the woman on surveillance cameras attempting to steal sweet potatoes, heart medication, Reese's candy and a rug.

The incident report says 23-year-old Angela Spires of Batesburg admitted she stole the items, but she did so because she was unemployed and needed to feed her potbellied pig.

Spires received a citation for shoplifting and ordered not to return to Walmart.
