HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A community continues to search for missing Heather Elvis. Many people want to help but don't know how.

An online petition on change.org has been created to urge national media outlets CNN and HLN to broadcast coverage on the disappearance of Heather Elvis. The petition also calls individually to Nancy Grace.

One day after the petition appeared on change.org, the website for HLN personality Nancy Grace was updated with the following:

WHERE IS MISSING 20-YEAR-OLD HEATHER ELVIS?

Urgent: A 20-year-old woman mysteriously vanishes without a trace -- her car found abandoned near a boat landing. The search for missing Heather Elvis ramping up as dozens of volunteers hack through thick underbrush with machetes. Tonight, Nancy Grace speaks to the missing woman's parents as they urge anyone with information to come forward so they find out what happened to their missing daughter.

Grace covered the story of Elvis's disappearance during her show Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern time on HLN. View a clip of the coverage here:

Below is the text of the change.org petition created by a community member urging national coverage of the Elvis case:

A whole community is looking, praying, and working hard to bring Heather home. She has been missing since December 17th. Her FB page Findheatherelvis posts daily about the many efforts taking place to find her! They need national coverage! They need the attention of major national media such as Nancy Grace! Please...if you feel there is nothing you can do...pray, and sign this petition and spread the word!!

People are signing the petition by the minute. As of 4:30 a.m. Monday morning, there were 7,634 signatures on the petition. To sign, click this link that will take you to the petition page.

According to the website, change.org is the world's largest petition platform, empowering people everywhere to create the change they want to see.
