LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

A carbon monoxide leak from a faulty heating unit caused a Lexington Walmart to be evacuated Sunday morning.

Lexington County Battalion Fire Chief Billy Gardner said fire units responded for an air quality issue inside the store and all employees and customers evacuated the store safely.

Customers reported watery eyes before fire crews confirmed an elevated reading of carbon monoxide.

Gardner said crews are ventilating the building and the store will re-open when it's safe.
