Nearly 2,000 marijuana plants found in Colleton Co. green house

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

The Colleton County Sheriff's Office says nearly 2,000 marijuana plants were found in a green house in Cottageville.

On Friday, the sheriff's office along with SLED and the Walterboro Public Safety Department executed a search warrant at a home on 301 Inspiration Drive in Cottageville.

According to authorities, the search warrant resulted in finding approximately 65 pounds of dried and packaged marijuana, and an operating green house which held an additional 1,854 marijuana plants.

The owner of the property, 62-year-old Michael Rae, was arrested for manufacturing marijuana and trafficking marijuana. Rae was transported to the Colleton County Detention Center where he will be held pending a bond hearing.

"I appreciate all of the hard work that was put into this bust. I am proud of my deputies and we appreciate all of the agencies who assisted today," Sheriff R.A. Strickland said.
