NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston police say a 61-year-old man was arrested Thursday after a strong odor of marijuana led officers to the discovery of over 10 pounds of pot.

According to an incident report, police were patrolling in the 2700 block of Louise Drive on Thursday around 8 a.m. when a vehicle with its lights left on was spotted parked in front of a home.

As police approached the home, a strong odor of marijuana became present, the report states.

Police say the suspect, 61-year-old Michael Huber, was seen weighing a green plant like material on a digital scale inside the home. When officers knocked on the door, he placed the substance inside a drawer.

The report states Huber was detained after opening the door.

Officers say a locked door was discovered while searching the home. After finding the key inside an electrical box, police unlocked the door and found a large amount of marijuana inside the room.

A green plant like material was also found on the living room table, in an ashtray, and inside a pipe used for smoking, the report states. Marijuana was also found in the attic.

Although the incident report originally stated 2 pounds of marijuana was recovered, North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor says more than 10 pounds of marijuana was found in the home.

Huber was charged with trafficking marijuana and possession of marijuana within the proximity of a school. He is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
