Irmo woman, 22, dies in crash, toddler survives

Authorities have identified the victim in a deadly crash near St. Andrews Road Thursday morning.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office identified the driver of a vehicle that crashed in the 1700 block of Burning Tree Drive as 22-year-old Ashley Faith Mitchell of Irmo.

The crash occurred on Burning Tree Drive near St. Andrews Road around 10:19 a.m. The scene was near the Interstate 26 exit to St. Andrews Road.

Authorities say Mitchell was traveling north when she ran off the left side of the road then struck a tree.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries she sustained in the accident, according to the coroner's office.

There was a 4-year-old boy in the car and he was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
