LUGOFF, SC (WIS) -

Lugoff firefighters put an attic fire out in less than ten minutes Saturday night.

Fire Chief Dennis Ray says crews arriving at the house on Dupont Boulevard noticed smoke coming from the eaves of the attic and light smoke inside the house. They determined the fire started around a light fixture in the kitchen ceiling and spread into most of the attic space.

Ray says it took less than ten minutes for firefighters to get into the attic and put out the fire.

"Our crews demonstrated textbook performance on fire attack principals, incident management, and scene control quickly finding where the fire had spread and stopping any further fire damage to the home," Ray said. "We were glad to find that the homeowner was able to exit the home and advise our crews where to go when they arrived in the first engine."

The homeowner got out safely and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  Crews from Pine Grove, Doby's Mill and Blaney Fire Departments assisted with the fire.
