ATMORE, AL (WSFA) -

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the circumstances following a five-vehicle crash Sunday night in Escambia County that left 2 dead and three injured.

The crash happened around 10:50 p.m. on Interstate 65 three miles south of Atmore in south Alabama.

Authorities confirm that 9-year-old Nadir Gillis and 7-year-old Naziya Gillis, both of Camp LeJeune, N.C., were killed when the 2010 Dodge Challenger in which they were passengers was struck by a 2000 Freightliner truck.

The 18-wheeler was driven by 57-year-old Andalusia resident Terry Allen Wyatt. He was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Dodge, 28-year-old Isom Hodges, and passenger Labricia Hodges, 30, both of Camp LeJeune,  were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

William C. Rousey, 42, of Lexington, Ky., was driving a 2004 Nissan and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

The other drivers involved were not injured. No additional details are available as Alabama State Troopers continue their investigation.
