(WMC-TV) - Possible candidates for county-wide offices are starting to pull their petitions, and Janis Fullilove is considering a move from city hall to the Shelby County Clerk's Office.

Memphis Councilwoman Janis Fullilove's flair for dramatic and occasional run-ins with the law are enough to turn off some voters.

"If I see her name on the ballot, I vote for anyone who's running against her. It could be Santa Claus," said voter Kim Proctor.

Others admire Fullilove's outspokenness and have twice elected her to city council.

"She's opinionated but not too opinionated to listen to other people's ideas, and she's the type of person who gets the job done," said voter Mitchell Allen.

Fullilove confirms she is exploring a new job as Shelby County Clerk, which is the office that oversees license plates along with marriage and business licenses among other things.

"I'm looking at some things and haven't made up my mind just yet," said Fullilove.

Fullilove pulled a qualifying petition for the Democratic primary just in case.

"There are people out there that would like to see me in another capacity," she said.

She admits the clerk's office has improved in the wake of a bribery scandal, which is something current clerk Wayne Mashburn takes a lot of credit for.

He said in a statement, "I have tried my best to serve the public well for three and a half years. I plan to run on my record and I plan on winning."

This would not be Fullilove's first run for Shelby County Clerk. She said she was "slaughtered" in 2002 by former clerk Jayne Creson.
