Shelter helps to deck the halls with gifts, pancakes

Posted: Updated:

Two local organizations that help Midlands families and children decked the halls for a Christmas pancake breakfast Monday morning.

The Palmetto Place Children's Shelter, which provides a home for abused and neglected children, teamed up with St. Lawrence place, a local non-profit that serves homeless families in the Midlands, to make Christmas happen.

"I think it's important because not every kid comes here knowing about Christmas the way you and I know it, and it's important that we get to show them how much fun it is and the true meaning of Christmas and the community coming together to help kids who might not have Christmas otherwise," said Erin Hall with the shelter.

In addition to having breakfast, the kids also got presents that were donated from local businesses.
