MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - The most recent retirees from the Peabody pond were introduced to new waters Wednesday.

For the first time in history, the The Peabody Memphis ducks retired somewhere other than the farm where they were raised.

The newly retired ducks will spend the rest of their lives in a pond at the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn.

The ducks will reportedly be feeding on the same grain and water used to make the company's famous whiskey.

"Jack Daniel's and the Peabody Ducks have been connected from the very beginning so it's only natural that we would welcome a few of our webbed-footed friends to the Distillery," Master Distiller Jeff Arnett said. "These will be some of the best cared for ducks in the world, feasting on the same quality grain and cave spring water we use to make our whiskey. I guess you could say these ducks are getting the ultimate holiday present."

Before jumping into their new pond, the ducks took a final walk down the red carpet.

The ducks became a staple at The Peabody Memphis 80 years ago. Until today, retired ducks were brought back to the farm in which they were raised.
