(WMC-TV) - A lawsuit against the partner of former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis was dropped. His ex-wife had filed an alienation of affection lawsuit against Davis' partner Jansen Fair.

Fair talked to Action News 5's Janice Broach in an exclusive interview.

"That was humiliating ... because I'm just not that guy. I felt I was being portrayed as something I am not," said Fair.

Jansen Fair tears up when he talks about the alienation of affection lawsuit filed by his partner's former wife Suzann Davis. It accuses Fair of luring Davis away from her and asking for $1 million.

Fair said he did not know Davis was married when he met him in his hometown of Starkville. Davis was in town for a basketball game.

"We were together a very short period of when I found out," he said.

He said Davis called him a month after they met and told him he was married. Fair says he ended the relationship.

"I was devastated and upset, just you know, it's not what I believe in. It's not something I'm OK with," he said.

They got back together when Davis filed for divorce several months later. Fair, a hair stylist in Starkville, says he does not like talking about himself.

"I'm a behind-the-scenes guy. I don't want to be on camera. I'm only doing this to clear up some things. It's just not me," he said.

Fair says he was so clueless when he met Davis; he thought the former mayor was joking when he said he was in politics.

"I just kind of rolled my eyes. I thought, 'Bless his heart He's just trying to impress me,' "said Fair.

Fair was in for a shock when he eventually found out Davis was the mayor of Southaven. And it was an even bigger surprise when Davis was in trouble with the Mississippi state auditor and DeSoto County.

But Fair has stood by Davis through all of it.

"I was raised to stick by the ones you love no matter what," he said.
