ORANGEBURG, SC (WCSC) -
Investigators say a man wanted for questioning in the murder of his brother and mother in Florida was spotted in Orangeburg.
According to officials with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, 24-year-old Steven Tompkins was seen on surveillance tape at a Walmart on Tuesday along with 19-year-old Joycelin Luck, an Orangeburg woman who was reported missing Tuesday night.
"Investigators were initially contacted on Tues. Dec. 10, when Linda Luck reported her 19-year-old daughter, Joycelin, had stolen $1,000 cash from their home," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."On Wed. Dec. 11, Ms. Luck spoke with Investigators to say that she still had not heard from her daughter. Ms. Luck helped us determine that her daughter had been at Wal-Mart on North Road on the evening of Tues. Dec. 10. Surveillance images show Joycelin with a man, other evidence indicates she was with a white male.
According to investigators, the man Luck was with is Steven Tompkins who the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida is searching for in connection to an incident on Tuesday where deputies responded to a home on Jefferson Avenue in Lehigh Acres regarding two people who were found dead.
Florida investigators say the bodies of 55-year-old Shelley Tompkins and 22-year-old Daniel Tompkins were found in the home by concerned friends.
According to authorities, Steven Tompkins, who is Shelley Tompkins' son and Daniel's brother, was not located when deputies responded to the residence, and is considered a person of interest.
Authorities say he may be armed with a handgun and traveling in a 2004 green 4-door Ford F-150 Lariat pick-up truck with Florida tags BFKT59.
Tompkins is described as 5'5" tall, medium build with hazel eyes and short brown hair. He may also have facial hair.
Anyone who may know of Steven Tompkins' whereabouts, observes the vehicle or has additional information about this violent felony crime is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (239) 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS(8477).
