NEWTON, NC (WBTV) -

The Catawba County home that once belonged to former NASCAR Driver Jeremy Mayfield will soon be a pile of ashes.

The Catawba County Fire Marshal's Office confirmed to WBTV on Thursday that the unfinished mansion will be burned down as part of a fire training exercise on Saturday.

However, due to the rainy forecast, officials decided to delay the burning of the home on Friday. A future training exercise has not scheduled.

Two new indictments were filed against former NASCAR Driver Jeremy Mayfield in Catawba County earlier this year in addition to the original charges filed against him in 2011.

Both involve charges of possession of stolen goods.

Thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods are listed, including air filers, an air compressor, alternators, radiators and brake boosters, according to the indictments.

Mayfield's home in Catawba was searched in 2011 and the items were taken by law enforcement as evidence.

Mayfield was suspended indefinitely from NASCAR in May 2009 after testing positive for methamphetamine.

Mayfield told WBTV the random drug test was inaccurate, and that it showed positive because he had taken allergy medication and Adderal for his ADD.

He is also facing breaking and entering charges as well as possession of methamphetamine charges from earlier court indictments.
