The Newberry County Sheriff's Office has released a composite drawing of a man involved in recent "distraction" burglaries" in Newberry and Laurens Counties.

Deputies say man, who may have a speech impediment, has used the name Tom Rollins or Rawlings and says he is working for local electric companies cutting right of ways.

He lures the victim out of the home and keeps them occupied while another person goes into the residence and steals jewelry and other precious metals.

He has been seen with another white man driving a reddish or orange colored pickup with a generator in the back. Both of the men were wearing some form of uniform or safety vest.

If you should see this vehicle or if someone approaches your home, you are urged to call 911 immediately.

Deputies say you should never let anyone in your home unless you know them or have called them or you have verified their identity. Do not be lulled into believing them because they are wearing an official looking uniform or equipment or driving an official looking vehicle. Government or utilities do not offer one time deals or services based on quick decisions.

The man in the sketch is described as being 43-47 years of age with medium brown hair, standing 5' 9", and weighing 200 pounds.

You are urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC if you see these men.
