Families dropping off gifts to help those in need

Posted: Updated:

The gifts were pouring in to the Families Helping Families warehouse at the Parkland Plaza in Cayce Saturday.

The Palmetto Project is helping more than 2,700 families have a happy holiday this year.

Families have already started dropping off bikes, toys and other wrapped gifts. Still there are about 250 families waiting to be adopted and if donations do not come in, some families might have to be turned away.

"Thinking about a mother who is counting on us providing Christmas for her children because she can't and then us not coming through is really something we don't want to happen," said Nell Killoy with the Palmetto Project.

Families can drop off wrapped gifts until Dec. 14 at 833 State Street in Cayce.

There are volunteers there to take your donations from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Sunday.

If you'd like to adopt a family call the Palmetto Project at 729-4875.

WIS will hold our last Families Helping Families phone bank Monday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Just call 758-1020 to help a family in need.
