RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing over the weekend.

Tony Lamont Young was taken into custody late Monday at a relative's apartment without incident.

Young is accused of stabbing 30-year-old Derrick Land to death early Saturday morning in a parking lot at The Views on Longcreek Apartments.

Sheriff Leon Lott said a Crimestoppers tip identified Young as the attacker. The sheriff said investigators recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack, and items that belonged to the victim in Young's possession.

Deputies responding to the 1800 block of Longcreek Drive found Land lying down in the parking lot unresponsive around 1 a.m.

Deputies later determined Land had been stabbed multiple times in the upper body.

Neighbor Jennifer Cassidy said even with deputies living at the complex, crime is a problem.

"We hear gunshots back here all the time," Cassidy said. We find shell casings, dime bags. Even though we've got two to three courtesy officers that live here from Richland deputies this place is.... They can do their job and I feel sorry for them because it's so much to do."

Land was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
