Lexington County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who got $35 in an armed robbery in a hotel parking lot.

The robbery occurred at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Red Roof Inn on Berryhill Road in Columbia.

According to the incident report, the 46-year-old victim told investigators he and a co-worker were warming up a company truck in the parking lot when a man approached the truck.  As the victim was sitting in the driver's seat, he told deputies the man pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

The incident report says the victim threw the $35 he had in his wallet on the ground.  The gunman ordered him to pick up the cash, and he did.  After getting the cash in his hand, the robber demanded money from the victim's friend, who said he didn't have any.

The gunman ran off.  K9 officers tracked him to the Columbia King Buffet next door, but lost the trail.

The victim said the gunman was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over his face and could not give a detailed description.
