WESTMINSTER, S.C. (AP) - A Seneca teen has died after he crashed a car during a police chase.
Coroner Karl Addis says 14-year-old Jesse Logan Hannah died at the Oconee Medical Center shortly before 5 a.m. Friday. Addis said Hannah was a ninth-grader at West Oak High School.
Highway Patrol Trooper Billy Elder says Hannah and three other teens were traveling on state Highway 24 when a Westminster police officer tried to pull them over shortly before 3:30 a.m. just east of Westminster.
Elder says the teens drove off and the officer chased them. The car ran off the road and overturned. Hannah and two 16-year-old males were thrown from the vehicle. A fourth teen in the vehicle was not hurt.
There was no word on the condition of the two teens who were hurt.
Investigators say speeds reached 90 mph during the pursuit.
