If you ever attended a sporting event in the Midlands, you've probably heard Jim Seay's voice.

Wednesday night that mellow voice fell silent as Jim Seay passed away at the age of 77.

Jim was a sports broadcaster for many years in the Columbia area working in radio. Several times he told me stories of how he used to shoot races at Darlington for WIS using a film camera.

Jim also served as a PA announcer for many sporting event including the weekend of champions for high school football.

A celebration of life service for Seay will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Irmo.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the Special Olympics, South Carolina, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
